Boumalne du Dades is for most tourists a hub for visiting the fantastic Dades Gorge which starts just north of Boumalne, the road snakes up in a leisurely fashion inside the wide walls of the gorge past a Kasbah at Ait
Youl, 6,5 km the main raod. A couple of kilometers later the road crosses an oued (riverbed), this valley offers a trekking route to Kelaa Magouna.
After 5 km and over a small pass, the hidden Sidi Boubar Gorge (or Gorge de Miguirne)
joins from the right. The small gorge has springs and rock pools and makes a good half-
day hike, part of which requires some wading.Another 4km brings you to a weird
collection of rock formations.further on, the village of Ait Oudinar has a few shop and
Sunday souq. Here the Gorge narrow abruptly and the river flows right by the roadside.
